About Us

 

Annie Barker and Christian Smith, founders of Yoga Bär Studio, at the time of opening, had a combined 61 years of experience as practitioners in the healing arts. Originally from Los Angeles, they practiced and taught in The United States, the United Kingdom and Germany. They moved to the Schöneweide neighbourhood of Berlin in 2017 and practiced bodywork in their praxis, Forest of Arden Healing Arts. In 2021, they opened a small self-massage and yoga product store called Yoga Bär Box, and have opened this studio Yoga Bär Studio in 2022.  

Yoga Bär Studio continues in Memoriam and is dedicated to Christian Smith (15/06/1963- 06/08/2022).

 

Our Teachers

 

Annie Barker

Annie is a bodyworker and yoga teacher. Annie has been studying yoga since she was a teenager. She has studied Kundalini, Iyengar, Anusara, Hatha, Yin and Restorative Yoga styles. She also studied dance for many years, and has worked in the performing arts – acting and music –  since childhood. Starting in 2000, Annie trained in bodywork at the Massage School of Santa Monica, the Upledger Institute, The Barral Institute, and the Chikly Institute. She is qualified in structural bodywork, relaxation massage, Aromatherapy, Cranioscaral Therapy, Lymph Drainage, Visceral Manipulation, Thai massage, Pregnancy Massage, Hot Stone Massage and Bodymind Integration. Annie is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher. Annie has studied Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Kung Fu at the Taoist Institute, Los Angeles.

Annika Jahn

 

Annika is a certified Hatha Yoga teacher (200 hours) and is currently studying for her advanced 500 hour yoga teacher training to be completed in summer 2023.
She believes that awareness of our movement and breath can connect us with these powerful tools that help us access our inner world. For Annika, yoga is more than the Asanas and she loves to teach pranayama, mantra and vinyasa yoga.

Carina Sophia Linn

Carina has been on her Yoga path since 2017 . In October 2022 she finished her 2.5 year Hatha Yoga teacher training at the Shakti-Yogaloft in Berlin. Carina loves to teach a smooth and powerful Hatha Yoga flow next to Yin elements enabling her students to end the practice in a state of meditation and feel peace in the soul.

Lise

Lise is a 600h trained Yoga teacher with a focus on Vinyasa and Yin Yoga. She has loved and practiced Yoga for many years and lives by the assumptions of yoga every day. She has a passion to pass on her knowledge and love of yoga because she believes Yoga is and should be made accessible to every body. She loves a balanced Vinyasa flow with a handful of Yin poses and meditation for relaxation.
Lise brings a medical understanding of the body and function with her background as a nurse, using this knowledge to keep her students safe ensuring an enjoyable yoga practice.

Katharina Spreng

With her Bachelor’s degree in sports management (focus on sports science and rehabilitation), Katharina came to a consistent yoga practice in Peru during the pandemic in order to cultivate patience, calmness and inner strength. Since her Vinyasa Yoga training she hopes to accompany others on their way to inner peace, balance and enjoyment in their lives. As a former competitive swimmer, it is especially important to her to find the flow in everything. The balance between effort and relaxation is reflected in her Yoga Vinyasa Flow.
